Three challenges hindering market growth: 2025 will see transformation in finance and climate tech - Interview with Shohei Hamada of KlimaDAO JAPAN

Please tell us about KlimaDAO JAPAN Co., Ltd.'s business activities and current initiatives.

Shohei Hamada (hereinafter, Hamada): KlimaDAO is a DAO founded in 2021 that promotes the tokenization of carbon credits using blockchain technology. KlimaDAO JAPAN was founded in October of the same year after my efforts in Japan were recognized as I have been active as a KlimaDAO contributor since April 2023.

Currently, our mission is to "democratize climate change measures," and we aim to improve the transparency and expand liquidity of credit transactions in the Japanese market.

What do you think are the problems facing the current carbon credit market?

Hamada: The carbon credit market has three challenges: low transparency of transactions, poor liquidity, and complicated procedures.

The risk of double counting due to opaque transaction history, the difficulty of matching sellers and buyers, and complicated procedures are hindering the growth of the market.
