BCG: "Not too profitable" vs. "Moderately profitable"

Industry review 2024.3

It is said that the appeal of blockchain games (BCGs) is that you can make money with crypto assets and NFTs. However, the topic of whether you can make money or not is the only thing people talk about, and people tend to quickly get bored of BCGs that don't make money.

SYMBIOGENESIS is throwing a stone at that. This game does not have its own tokens, so you won't make too much or lose too much (NFTs do exist). The main focus is enjoying the story and world view, and NFTs are just one element of this game, which may expand the new possibilities of BCG.

On the other hand, Chain Colosseum Phoenix has built an ecosystem (economic sphere) where you can make money appropriately more meticulously than ever before. We look forward to seeing what happens with these two titles from Japan.

1.SYMBIOGENESIS

Square Enix's new title is finally released

This new title is the second in Square Enix's Web3 game series (the first was Asset Million Arthur). Set on a "floating continent," the game involves solving mysteries hidden within the story in a world where many characters coexist.

By clicking on characters and items on the map, new stories are unlocked, and the goal is to gradually get closer to the heart of the story. There's also the social aspect of using Discord and other tools to cooperate with other players and share information.

2.Champions Tactics

Ubisoft's first BCG in development at Oasys chain

This is the first BCG from Ubisoft, a global game company known for the Assassin's Creed series. It is being developed on the basis of Oasys, a chain specialized for BCG.

A trial play was also held at the 2023 Tokyo Game Show, and the game content appears to be a 3-on-3 tactics game. After the start of NFT trading, it was so popular that it temporarily ranked first in trading volume on the major NFT marketplace "OpenSea," and is one of the favorite titles for 2024.

3.ChainColosseumPhoenix

Aiming to be "BCG for gamers" and excluding speculators

The gameplay is fairly conventional, in that players can obtain randomly dropped items and unique tokens by defeating enemies, but the biggest attraction of this game is the emphasis on its ecosystem.

The game has many unique measures, such as employing a number of mechanisms to eliminate speculation so that users who play the game can make money, and investing all proceeds from NFT sales into initial liquidity (more than $2.83 million (approximately 40 million yen) at the time of writing), so it is expected to set a new standard for BCG.
