Selected as a regular on TV in her first year since debut
Appears in many fashion magazines as a fashion model
We will take a look at MAGGY's side as a brand producer
The tension and pressure that makes you forget to blink
As a fashion model, you have been active in fashion magazines, media, and other media, but it seems that you are currently challenging yourself in various ways as a businessman. Please tell us more about your current activities.
MAGGY: I have now left the agency that I was working for and am running my own company. I produce a skincare brand, and I post information about cars and real estate on YouTube with the concept of spreading luxury.
My skincare brand LAPERICUM will be renewed in February of the next year and will release even more powerful products.
You debuted as a fashion model at the age of 16, and in the same year you were selected as a regular on Fuji TV's "Sports!". Did you have any worries or conflicts about being selected for an unprecedented role and being exposed to the media from the very beginning of your carrier?
MAGGY: I remember that I was suddenly allowed to debut, so I didn't know what to do, and I was so nervous that I forgot to blink when the program started.
I was suddenly brought in as an amateur and debuted without any lessons or anything. Looking back, I was desperate for what was in front of me. There were many times when I would burst into tears and say, "I want to quit."
At the time, I felt like I had become an adult without being able to balance my life as a normal high school girl with the life I got from working in the entertainment industry.
When did you start to come to terms with your emotions?
MAGGY: It took me about 10 years after my debut for my mind to find balance. Since I debuted at 16, I was doing exactly what I supposed to, so that I could meet the expectations of people around me.
I felt like I was always desperately riding the path that the people around me had laid out for me, like "this is how you should work on TV", and "this is how you should work on magazines".
Looking back now, I didn't have time to express my feelings. At that time, I was working with the feeling that something good would definitely happen after I finished my current job.
I thought that if I continued to do the MAGGY that everyone wanted, something good would definitely happen.
