Animoca Brands Japan, a strategic subsidiary of Hong Kong-based blockchain game developer Animoca Brands, announced on the 10th that CEO and Representative Director Motoki Tani stepped down on the 29th of last month, and that Daisuke Iwase was appointed as his successor.
Iwase is known for being the co-founder and former chairman of Lifenet Insurance Co., Ltd. He also served as a member of the headquarters management committee and Group Chief Digital Officer of AIA Group, a life insurance company in Hong Kong.
In the Web 3.0 field, he founded KLKTN, an NFT platform that conveys the appeal of anime, manga, and music. KLKTN is included in Animoca Brands' portfolio.
In his announcement, Iwase commented, "The potential for Japanese companies to unlock asset value through Web3 is immense. I look forward to working closely with the Animoca Brands leadership team and its 400 portfolio companies to realize this exciting opportunity."
Yat Siu, co-founder and chairman of Animoca Brands, also said of Iwase, "He is a Web3 native and has a proven track record not only as an entrepreneur but also as a corporate leader," and expressed his expectations, saying, "His experience and expertise will be critical in driving the company's growth and success in the Japanese market."
Animoca Brands Japan was established in October 2021 as a strategic subsidiary of Animoca Brands. It will support Web3.0 initiatives that utilize Japan's IP, etc., and explains that approximately 50 projects are in preparation at the time of its establishment.
