Preserving traditional Japanese culture through Web 3.0
ARTerrace announced on the 24th that it has launched ARTerrace, an art platform that connects traditional Japanese culture across borders. It will sell works by a total of 56 famous artists, including 18 Living National Treasures.
ARTerrace will use blockchain to manage its ledger and aim to function as a platform where both artists and buyers can safely offer and purchase works. It also visualizes the thoughts that artists put into their works, and has made efforts to make them enjoyable even for those who are not familiar with traditional crafts.
ARTerrace says that it will "pass on traditional crafts to the future" through ARTerrace.
In recent years, traditional crafts have faced many challenges, such as a decrease in the number of successors, insufficient recording of techniques, and the trading and resale of counterfeit works.
In light of this situation, ARTerrace will use blockchain to manage its ledger and provide a one-stop initiative to preserve cultural works for the future. Specifically, it will use blockchain to record and publish everything from the birth to the transfer of a work, ensuring the authenticity and reliability of the work.
Utilizing the next-generation ledger management system "Kogei-J NFT"
The key to this initiative is "Kogei-J NFT," which is billed as a next-generation ledger management system.
Kogei-J NFT is a next-generation ledger management system that utilizes ARTerrace's proprietary technology, blockchain, and NFT. Taking advantage of the tamper-resistant nature of blockchain, all information such as work information, authenticity determination, and distribution management will be converted into NFT and recorded.
Kogei-J NFT has adopted the distributed storage "Arweave" to achieve "safe and permanent storage and access to all important data," which was difficult with conventional technology. This makes it possible to permanently store video and image data by paying a fee once.
In addition, the latest high-precision 3D scanning technology is used to determine the authenticity of the works. This technology accurately records every detail of the work, ensuring its authenticity.
Works can be purchased through a dedicated platform, but the company plans to expand the secondary market function in the future.
Shusaku Fujino, CEO of ARTerrace, told Ioltie in an interview, "We are committed to using the latest technology in Web 3.0 to bring traditional Japanese crafts to the world."
He also said, "This is a cultural mission that goes beyond mere commercial success, and we sincerely hope that our work will contribute to the development of the entire market by bringing new value to Japanese crafts. ARTerrace will do its utmost to pass on Japan's pride to the future and build a bridge to new cultures."
