On the 25th, Bitmain, a major Bitcoin (BTC) mining machine developer, announced its latest mining machine in an effort to expand its market share.
The latest machine, the Antminer T21, announced at the Blockchain Life 2023 Forum held in Dubai, has air-cooling technology that is ideal for operation at high temperatures and significantly reduces power consumption. It is scheduled to start shipping in January 2024.
The Antminer T21 features an incredible computing power of 190 terahashes per second and energy efficiency of 19 joules per terahash using the SHA256 mining algorithm, which is important for Bitcoin.
SHA256 is one of the hash functions used for electronic signatures. The bit length is 256 bits, and by comparing the hash value between the sender and receiver of the data, it is possible to detect whether the original text has been tampered with during communication.
The company has announced several new products in the past few months. Specifically, they announced a Filecoin (FIL) mining rig in July, and a Kaspa (KAS) mining rig and a Monero (XMR) mining rig in August.
Also, on the 23rd, they announced a mining machine customized for Aleo, a blockchain platform that uses zero-knowledge proofs, enabling privacy-focused blockchain mining.
With the release of Antminer T21, a price protection program will be implemented to protect buyers from Bitcoin price drops until November 25th. This service is Bitmain's new initiative to provide a safety net to protect customers from the volatility changes that are common in the cryptocurrency (virtual currency) market.
Bitmain's competitor MicroBT has also announced the mining machine "WhatsMiner M60" series as its latest product. It is the latest mining machine equipped with hydraulic, immersion, and air cooling functions. In line with the advancement of renewable technologies in the era of sustainable development, it is said to be designed with an emphasis on energy efficiency when powering mining hardware.
The WhatsMiner M66S and WhatsMiner M66 immersion cooling models are said to achieve hash rates of 298TH/s to 270TH/s and 276TH/s to 240TH/s, respectively. Both are said to have very good energy efficiency of 18.5J/T and 19.9J/T.
Bitmain and MicroBT have both introduced energy-efficient machines. This has resulted in less power consumption and reduced costs in mining. Bitcoin prices are expected to rise further next year, which is expected to further increase the demand for mining machines.
