[NEWS] Magic Eden to sell Pokémon card NFT collection

Pokémon card NFT collection

Magic Eden, a popular NFT marketplace based on the Solana (SOL) chain, announced on the 12th that it will be selling an NFT collection of Pokemon cards.

This collection is available for trading through a partnership with Collector, a Solana-based marketplace that tokenizes RWA (real-world assets).

The physical cards will be stored by PWCC Marketplace LLC, a US trading card marketplace with 25 years of experience, and can be exchanged for NFT cards at any time.

Magic Eden will hold its first card pack drop on the 18th. Each pack will cost 3 SOL, with a total of 100 cards for sale. Each collection will include at least one rare card, such as Pokemon Gym Challenge 1st Edition Holo-Brain Charizard and Pokemon Ex Power Keepers Gold Star Flareon Holo.

The cards will be minted in private and airdropped two days after the drop (the 20th). The cards that will be dropped will be diverse, including the 1997 Koffing Pokemon Carddass PSA 10 and the 2021 Pokemon PSA 10 Pokemon SWSH Black Star Promotion Pikachu V.

Note that these transactions are secondary, so the Pokemon card issuing company, The Pokemon Company, and its major shareholder, Nintendo Co., Ltd., are not involved.

In August, a $300 Pokemon card pack sold by Polygon (MATIC)-based NFT marketplace "Courtyard" sold out in just 30 seconds.

Pokemon cards are so popular that they are difficult to obtain due to limited stock, prices are soaring on the secondary market, and there are many cases of fraud and theft targeting high-priced cards. In July of this year, a brawl broke out in Tennoji, Osaka, at the time of the release of "Lord of the Black Flame," which has become a social problem.

It is expected that prices will also rise for Pokemon card NFTs, so caution is required. However, the price of Pokémon cards is steadily increasing, so there is no need to worry about a price drop.
