On the 11th, cryptocurrency wallet MetaMask announced that it has added and released a cryptocurrency purchasing function called "Buy Crypto" to the asset management portal screen "Portfolio Dapp".
Buy Crypto was previously available on smartphone apps, but with this announcement, cryptocurrency can now be purchased on the browser version as well. In the case of the browser version of MetaMask, you can connect to Portfolio Dapp by clicking "Purchase" in the wallet.
The cryptocurrency purchasing function is available in 189 countries and currently supports debit cards, credit cards, PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and bank transfers. Japan is not included in this list.
In addition, it supports eight types of chains, including Ethereum (ETH), Polygon (MATIC), Binance Smart Chain, Avalanche (AVAX), Phantom (FTM), Optimism (OP), Arbitrum (ARB), and Celo, and it is possible to purchase more than 90 types of cryptocurrency.
MetaMask launched its "cryptocurrency purchase aggregator feature" in June last year and has partnered with more than seven payment providers around the world, including PayPal.
This means that, although limited to US users, it is now possible to purchase and send Ethereum through PayPal.
