Validating the use of DID and digital certificates
Mitsubishi UFJ Trust Bank announced on the 3rd that it will partner with monoAI technology to conduct a demonstration experiment on activity history verification in the metaverse space "KAMITSUBAKI STUDIO presents Virtual Mystery "Witch Puzzle Solving" with HELLO OSAKA" using DID (Deccentralized Identifier) and digital certificate (Verifiable Credential = VC).
With the cooperation of TOPPAN Digital and ZEROBILLBANK JAPAN, the technical partners of this demonstration experiment, they will verify the storage of usage data that does not require the registration of personal information for new users of the metaverse.
Through this demonstration experiment, Mitsubishi UFJ Trust Bank and monoAI will work to create new businesses in the metaverse and contribute to the formation of a safe and secure digital society.
The outline of this demonstration experiment is that Mitsubishi UFJ Trust Bank and monoAI have been considering use cases in the metaverse of DID/VC since conducting a demonstration experiment on the service authentication function of the metaverse in March last year.
In this demonstration experiment, a system that allows businesses to appropriately acquire information about users will be used to verify the state of safe and secure data sharing for both individuals and businesses, processing flow, performance, usability, and contribution to events.
The experiment will be held at the metaverse platform "HH cross EVENTS." To verify information sharing, a digital certificate (Save VC) that can identify users will be issued without retaining the user's personal information in the Witch Puzzle DB (database). Users will use Save VC to verify the validity of resuming an event from a point where it was interrupted.
In data marketing using DIDs, users will register personal information in the Witch Puzzle DB as necessary to link the digital certificate with the DID, and the possibility of analyzing data such as event participation status back to before registration will be considered.
In using digital certificates to send customers from the virtual world to the real world, a digital certificate (Clear VC) that can be used for events other than Witch Puzzle Solving and campaigns in the real world will be issued to users who have completed the Witch Puzzle Solving. Through this initiative, the scalability of using digital certificates will be verified.
Going forward, Mitsubishi UFJ Trust and Banking Corporation and monoAI plan to continue to jointly verify the scalability of the digital certificates issued in the "Witch Puzzle Solving" project, such as using them in the real world or for other metaverse events.
