[NEWS] Sanjo City and Tsubame City in Niigata Prefecture Announce NFT Trading Cards as the First Common Gift in the Nation

Sanjo City, Niigata Prefecture, announced on the 25th that it has adopted the NFT trading card "Tsubame-Sanjo NFT Guardian of the Takumi" as a common gift for hometown tax donations with Tsubame City.

Donations can be made on the Sanjo City and Tsubame City Hometown Choice Gift Pages from the 18th of next month. Rakuten Hometown Tax Donation and Furunavi will start accepting donation applications from the 22nd of next month.

According to the city, this will be the first time in the country that multiple municipalities have adopted a common NFT gift.

This initiative marks the beginning of a story in which Tsubame-Sanjo, the collective name for Tsubame City and Sanjo City, will step into a new worldview, connect with the world through NFTs, and make great strides together.

"Tsubame-Sanjo NFT Guardian of the Takumi" is an NFT version of the "Tsubame-Sanjo Trading Card Guardian of the Takumi," a trading card that Tsubame-Sanjo Co., Ltd. has been selling since 2019.

"Tsubame-Sanjo Trading Card Guardian of Takumi" is a character that personifies manufacturing-related companies and organizations, mainly factories in Tsubame-Sanjo, Niigata. This time, the return gift was made possible by the technology developed by Tales & Tokens in order to turn them into NFTs.

According to the announcement, NFT holders will be given benefits such as event participation tickets and restaurant coupons that can be used in the Tsubame-Sanjo area, in order to promote tourism and increase the number of people involved. At the moment, benefits include "the right to participate in the Hien Summer Festival" and "the right to tour secret factories with locals".

In addition, they will work with the Tsubame-Sanjo DAO Discord server to promote regional revitalization.

The donation amount for one character only is 10,000 yen, and the donation amount for the five-character package is 50,000 yen. The characters are randomly included in both.

There are 30 types of characters in total, and the collection includes two characters as secrets. Donors will not only receive an NFT, but also a pack containing actual trading cards.

NFTs will be issued on Polygon (MATTC), and the number to be issued will be decided next month.

A wallet such as MetaMask is required to receive NFTs. Once the payment is confirmed, information on how to receive NFTs will be sent to the email address registered with Furusato Choice, and you will need to follow the instructions to complete the procedure.
