Solana Mobile, a subsidiary of Solana Labs, announced on the 14th that it will begin general sales of the Web 3.0 smartphone "Saga" from the 8th of next month.
According to the announcement, pre-orders have already begun shipping.
Solana Mobile announced the release of Saga in June last year. About 10 months have passed since then, and it has finally been released.
Saga is an Android OS smartphone developed in partnership with smartphone developer OSOM Products. In addition to the "Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1" that boasts high processing performance and power efficiency, it is equipped with 12GB RAM, 512GB storage, and a 6.67-inch OLED display.
The price is $1,000 (about 134,000 yen). In addition, it seems that the countries where it is sold are limited to the United States, EU, UK, Canada, Switzerland, Australia, and New Zealand at the moment.
Saga is equipped with a development kit called Solana Mobile Stack (SMS), which makes it easy to send, receive, and store crypto assets (virtual currencies) and NFTs.
The company explains that the wallet's private key is managed by the storage protocol "Seed Vault." The Seed Vault allows private keys to be managed separately from the Android OS and apps, and allows transactions to be signed safely and quickly.
In addition, the "Solana dApp Store" allows users to find Web 3.0 native dApps (decentralized apps) without the need for restrictive policies or fees.
Currently, there are 16 types of dApps that can be accessed, including Audius, Solana Blockchain-based NFT marketplace Magic Eden, Mango Markets, and Ledger.
It seems that a welcome pack containing various benefits is available to Saga purchasers. To access the Web 3.0 app, users will receive 20 USDC, 0.01 SOL, the fee required for the first transaction on Solana, and the opportunity to mint a new NFT from the NFT collection "Claynosaurz" on a first-come, first-served basis.
In addition, by obtaining the "Saga genesis token NFT" when setting up the device, users will be able to receive exclusive benefits and rewards for Saga users on dApps listed in the Solana dApp Store.
