[NEWS] STEPN announces support for Apple Pay, significantly lowering the barrier to entry

STEPN now supports Apple Pay

On the 22nd, the move to earn game "STEPN" announced that it has become compatible with Apple Pay, a payment service provided by Apple Inc. This means that users can purchase NFT sneakers and other items with Apple Pay.

Previously, in order to obtain STEPN's NFT sneakers, users had to prepare a cryptocurrency wallet, but with the addition of Apple Pay, the barrier to entry has been significantly lowered.

According to the announcement, STEPN is the first blockchain game app to be compatible with Apple Pay.

In the announcement, the company emphasized that "this achievement is an important step for the entire Web 3.0 ecosystem." It then stated, "This is an important step in bridging Web 2.0 and Web 3.0, and will accelerate the adoption of Web 3.0 technology on a global scale."

To obtain STEPN items with Apple Pay, users must first purchase points called "SPARK." 1 dollar = 10 SPARK, and users can use these SPARK to purchase NFT sneakers and items.

Yawn Rong, co-founder of Find Satoshi Lab (FSL), which developed STEPN, said that support for Apple Pay is an effort to bridge the gap between Web 2.0 and Web 3.0 technologies, and said, "It's an important step to bring Web 3.0 technology to the next 100 million users. We are confident that we can achieve this through our experienced team that has acquired thousands and millions of active users."

Jerry Huang, also a co-founder, said, "It will make the user experience more seamless and remove the barrier to entry for everyone interested in Move to Earn."

Apple imposes a 30% fee on in-app purchases and gas fees incurred when sending and receiving NFTs, known as the "Apple Tax," which places a heavy burden on companies.

In fact, last year, the iOS version of Coinbase Wallet, offered by the US cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase, took measures to disable the sending function of NFTs.

STEPN's in-app marketplace was also suspended for the same reason, but it seems to have been revived by adding support for Apple Pay.
