April saw an unprecedented hacking attack on the DeFi sector.

According to compiled news data, 25 DeFi protocols were hacked in the past 30 days, with total losses reaching approximately $624 million (approximately 100 billion yen). This is the largest monthly loss so far in 2026 and the worst single-month attack in recent years.

The DeFi market has seen a rapid expansion of Total Value Locked (TVL) in recent years, giving rise to various innovative protocols, but it has also attracted attention as a target for attacks. This large-scale and concentrated attack highlights the risks associated with the growth of DeFi.
