SHX was issued in 2018. Some people may have only learned of it upon the announcement of its listing in Japan.
Indeed, looking at SHX’s history from 2018 through around 2024, it feels somewhat different from the new payment-focused tokens that have emerged more recently. From 2025 onwards, trading began on platforms like Kraken and Uphold, and support expanded to include the Ethereum, XRPL, and Solana blockchains. In September 2026, BitTrade became the first domestic crypto asset exchange in Japan to list the token (for spot trading only).
Stronghold itself was not established solely to issue SHX; the company’s payment business existed first, and SHX was subsequently integrated into that business.
