[NEWS] Complex crypto wallets are a barrier to entry for gamers - Elympics releases report

Interested in acquiring crypto assets

Blockchain gaming protocol Elympics, in collaboration with the Blockchain Games Alliance (BGA) and blockchain data tracker Play to Earn, has released a report titled "The Future of Web 3.0 Gaming is Competitive: Global Gaming Report 2024."

The report highlights wallet complexity as a major barrier for global gamers to participate in Web 3.0 games.

Among the key findings, more than 10% of respondents cited wallet complexity as the main reason they do not play Web 3.0 games. 7.3% of respondents also said they do not understand the value of blockchain games.

Furthermore, 9.1% said they are not interested in blockchain-based games, while 2.4% said they are satisfied with traditional Web 2.0 games.

Despite the various challenges, many participants are interested in the potential of Web 3.0 games, especially the opportunities for airdrops and cryptocurrency acquisition. In other words, they are interested in earning money by playing games.

When asked about their motivations for playing games, many respondents cited "airdrops and the possibility of earning money" as the main reason. Competing with other players in these games is also a major attraction.

Michal Dombrowski, CEO of Elympix, commented on the struggles of Web 3.0 games to attract mainstream gamers.

He noted that the situation could change with the entry of infrastructure such as The Open Network (TON) into the field.

Dombrowski emphasized that the field could gain momentum as more developers develop high-quality games within Web 3.0.

TON Foundation's new initiative

Currently, efforts are being made in various places to address the challenges posed by complex cryptocurrency wallets, i.e. to simplify the user experience.

For example, Justin Hyun, investment director at the TON Foundation, said, "Telegram's mini-app aims to seamlessly integrate cryptocurrency functions and enhance user engagement without complicating the process."

As a result of these developments, games such as Hamster Kombat have been well received by users, and more than 300 million users have participated through the Telegram platform, paving the way for problem-solving.

However, the essence of gamers is to play interesting games. Web 3.0 games must be interesting, not just card battles aimed at making money, like Web 2.0 games, or users will not participate.
