[NEWS] "Anime Chain Initiative" announced to resolve copyright and ethical issues of generative AI

On the 9th, AI and blockchain experts in Japan established the "Anime Chain" Preparatory Committee and announced the "Anime Chain Initiative" to expand the content ecosystem.

In this initiative, we will provide generative AI that uses only opt-in datasets that guarantee the legitimacy of all learning, including the foundation model, using blockchain. In order to expand the content ecosystem, we aim to expand globally, including the Middle East and Africa in addition to Europe, the United States and Asia.

In addition, by realizing this initiative, we aim to develop a production environment where creators and companies can safely and securely use generative AI without worrying about copyright and ethical issues.

The drafting members, advisory board, and supporting partners of the Anime Chain Preparatory Committee are currently composed of domestic AI and blockchain experts and entertainment and content-related companies. In the future, domestic and international anime industry stakeholders and related companies are also expected to participate.

What is the Anime Chain Initiative?

The aim of this initiative is to expand the content ecosystem, enable creators to continue their creative activities even in the age of AI, and maximize their profits. Based on this, we explain the following three points.

1. Creating a safe and secure environment for creators

   We will provide generative AI reconstructed using only opt-in materials approved by the rights holder, and record the development process on the blockchain to maintain the transparency and legitimacy of generative AI.

2. Resolving the labor shortage in the content industry

   We will create an environment where high-quality content can be produced more quickly even with limited personnel, preventing stagnation in the industry due to labor shortages and expected to achieve sustainable growth.

3. Maximizing creator revenue

   By providing the production process of original drawings and images that creators use as learning data, we can maximize revenue.

The vision of the Anime Chain Initiative

The vision of the Anime Chain Initiative is to promote the healthy development of Japan's entertainment and content industries, including anime, manga, games, and VTubers, and to increase sustainability.

To that end, we aim to achieve this through the following step-by-step approach.

• Establishing a cooperative system with creator communities and industry players
• Establishing guidelines for the use of content created by generative AI
• Starting provision of generative AI tools/managed GPU farms
• Creating works and supporting production using generative AI, and hackathons
• Building a foundation model using only opt-in materials and building a unique blockchain

In addition, in order to further expand the content ecosystem, they plan to provide products and services that are not currently covered by the industry as a whole. They aim to increase the number of friends and achieve their vision early by providing incentives to support partners and contributors using unique ecosystem tokens, etc.
