Japan Smart Chain Announces Vision Partnership Agreement with KDDI

KDDI to accelerate JSC's validator business considerations

On the 23rd, AltX Research announced that it has signed a new vision partner agreement with KDDI for the Japan Smart Chain (JSC), a Layer 1 blockchain developed by the company.

Going forward, the two companies will work together to specifically consider KDDI's validator business for JSC. They will also begin preparations for a demonstration experiment of a new domestic service using JSC's resources.

Regarding the background to the signing of this vision partner agreement, AltX Research cited the fact that JSC is expected to be the largest blockchain in Japan that can flexibly respond to the latest domestic regulatory trends. In addition, KDDI is looking to expand its validator business and expects to create synergies by collaborating with JSC, which led to the signing of the agreement.

What is Japan Smart Chain (JSC)?

JSC is a project whose concept was revealed in November 2024 as a layer 1 blockchain focused on the development of blockchain services in Japan. It is positioned as a fully compatible layer 1 blockchain of Ethereum, and is promoting a "Japan-led blockchain" that is validated by companies in Japan.

JSC's members include Joichi Ito, co-founder of AltX Research and president of Chiba Institute of Technology, and Russell Cummer, co-founder and founder of the deferred payment service Paidy.

One of its features is that it independently develops and utilizes Mizuhiki, a highly reliable modular suite that has all the necessary functions to directly guarantee verified identity, regulatory compliance, and risk management on-chain.

The native token, JSC token, is scheduled to be issued at the same time as the mainnet launch, and it is expected to be listed on cryptocurrency exchanges in Japan and elsewhere after that.
