[NEWS] Metaplanet aims to hold 10,000 BTC of Bitcoin by 2025

Accelerating Bitcoin Purchases

Simon Gerovich, CEO of Metaplanet, which is listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange Standard Exchange, announced on his X on the 5th that the company's goal for this year is to hold 10,000 BTC of Bitcoin.

Metaplanet has been developing an investment strategy in Bitcoin since last year, which has been the factor that has significantly boosted the stock price.

Gerovich stated, "We have high hopes for the realization of our plan for Metaplanet's new challenge," and then stated his goal for 2025. In addition to holding 10,000 BTC, he explained that the company will utilize partnerships to strengthen ties with shareholders and promote the spread of Bitcoin in Japan and around the world. He also continued that he will further expand Metaplanet's influence in Japan and the Bitcoin ecosystem.

Metaplanet increased its Bitcoin purchases in December last year and currently holds 1,761.98 BTC. Since announcing its investment in Bitcoin in April last year, the number of BTC held has continued to increase at an accelerating rate, and the company is becoming one of the leading Bitcoin holding companies in Japan.

MicroStrategy also buys more Bitcoin

MicroStrategy, a US company that is a pioneer of corporate Bitcoin, also seems to have purchased Bitcoin.

According to an announcement on the 6th, MicroStrategy purchased about 1,070 BTC with about $101 million in cash between December 30th and December 31st of last year. The purchase price was about $94,004 per BTC.

With this latest purchase, MicroStrategy's holdings have expanded to 447,470 BTC. The total amount of Bitcoin acquired so far is $27.97 billion (about 4.413 trillion yen), with the average acquisition price being $62,503 per BTC.

According to the announcement, MicroStrategy's Bitcoin yield was 48.0% from October 1st to December 31st of last year, and 74.3% for the past year.

Currently, the trend of holding Bitcoin is accelerating both domestically and internationally, and purchases by leading companies such as MicroStrategy and Metaplanet in particular are likely to accelerate.
