[NEWS] Musk considering using blockchain for the Ministry of Government Efficiency?

Possibility of already being in contact with multiple projects

Elon Musk, who heads the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), which was established by the Trump administration to tackle government spending cuts, is considering using blockchain in the department. A person familiar with the matter told Bloomberg on the 25th.

According to reports, Musk has been considering using distributed ledger technology as a way to cut government spending with his aides and has begun discussions. Based on that, he is considering using blockchain for tracking government spending, data protection, building management, and more. It appears that DOGE officials have already contacted representatives of several public chains and are evaluating the technology.

The DOGE, which was officially established on the first day of President Trump's inauguration, aims to modernize government technology and software to improve efficiency and productivity. According to a presidential order signed recently, it is scheduled to compile and report specific proposals by July 4, 2026.

Musk has previously shown a positive attitude toward Bitcoin (BTC) and crypto assets (virtual currencies). He has also shown an understanding of blockchain, and discussions on its use may accelerate in the future.

Trump administration positive about utilizing next-generation technology

President Trump has shown a proactive stance towards incorporating and developing next-generation technologies, a stark change from his first administration. Crypto assets are a prime example of this, and although he took a negative stance during his first administration, he is now a key figure in the industry as a representative proponent.

At the recent Davos Conference, President Trump stated that he would "make the United States the center of AI and crypto assets," indicating his intention to promote the growth of both fields. He has already created the first White House AI and Crypto Special Envoy, and appointed former PayPal COO David Sacks to the position.

He has also signed a presidential order to review crypto-asset-related regulations and establish a digital asset reserve, including Bitcoin, and other such efforts are accelerating.

In AI, he has announced a large-scale private investment plan to build AI infrastructure in the United States by SoftBank Group, OpenAI, and others, and has stated that it is "the largest AI infrastructure project in history" as up to $500 billion (approximately 78 trillion yen) will be invested over the next five years.
