Rakuten Wallet Launches New App Integrating Spot and Margin Trading

Integration of Two Apps into One

Rakuten Wallet Co., Ltd., which operates cryptocurrency exchange services within the Rakuten Group, launched a new smartphone app for cryptocurrency trading, "Rakuten Wallet," on October 14, 2026. This app consolidates and revamps the previously separate "Cryptocurrency Trading" and "Margin Trading" apps, and is compatible with both iOS and Android. Featuring an AI avatar information service called "AI Concierge," the app allows users to complete everything from information gathering to trading within a single platform.

The new app enables both spot and margin trading on a single platform. The interface is designed to be visually intuitive, allowing even first-time cryptocurrency investors to operate it effortlessly.

Accordingly, the company plans to discontinue the existing 'Crypto Asset Trading' and 'Margin Trading' apps around early 2027. Going forward, existing users will need to transition to the new app.

Equipped with AI Concierge, Login Restricted to Passkey Authentication Only

The newly implemented "AI Concierge" features an AI avatar from Rakuten Wallet that provides cryptocurrency-related information useful for investment decisions, as well as explanations of app operations and technical terms. Users can ask questions within the app at any time, facilitating a seamless process from information gathering to actual trading.

In spot trading, the existing exchange service between "Rakuten Points" (standard points) and cryptocurrencies has been expanded, allowing users to purchase cryptocurrencies by combining cash and Rakuten Points. This broadens the use of points and creates a flexible trading environment tailored to users' budgets.

For security, the new app restricts login methods to "passkey authentication" only. Passkeys are considered highly resistant to unauthorized access, enabling smooth login through biometric authentication without the need for passwords. The aim is to provide a more secure trading environment while maintaining convenience.

Four Key Features of the New App

The main features of the new app as highlighted by the company are as follows:

  1. A simple interface for both spot and margin trading, ensuring ease of use for novice investors
  2. The ability to ask the "AI Concierge" about cryptocurrency market trends and app usage at any time
  3. The option to purchase cryptocurrencies using a combination of cash and Rakuten Points in spot trading
  4. Login is secured exclusively through high-security "passkey authentication"

Supporting Users from "Starting" to "Continuing"

Through the launch of this app, Rakuten Wallet aims to create an environment where a wide range of users, from those new to cryptocurrency investment to experienced traders, can engage with digital assets.

Leveraging the Rakuten ecosystem, the company plans to offer services that consistently support users not only at the "starting" phase of investment but also as they "continue," thereby enhancing customer satisfaction.
