On the 23rd, the Vietnamese government announced a national strategy for the development and application of blockchain technology until 2025, with a vision to 2030.
In the "National Strategy for the Development and Application of Blockchain Until 2025, Vision to 2030 (National Blockchain Strategy)" approved, signed and issued by Deputy Prime Minister Ho Duc Phoc, blockchain is defined as "a key technology of the Fourth Industrial Revolution".
The development and application of blockchain will contribute greatly to building an advanced digital infrastructure, ensuring the reliability and security of data, and contribute to the development and foundation of digital technology.
According to the strategy and vision to 2030, Vietnam aims to establish an international position in blockchain research, development, deployment, application and utilization as one of the world's leading blockchain-led countries.
The government will build 20 brands in terms of platforms, products and services on the blockchain technology platform, as well as operate three blockchain test centers and special zones in major cities to form a national network.
Vietnam also aims to be among the top 10 blockchain training and research institutes in the Asian region.
To achieve this goal, the government proposed five specific measures in the "2024-2030 Action Plan" issued along with "Decision 1236/QD-TTg", including "improving the legal environment", "developing infrastructure and forming a blockchain industry ecosystem", "training human resources in the blockchain field", "promoting the development and application of blockchain", and "promoting research, innovation and international cooperation".
In particular, each activity will be specifically assigned to a ministry or department led and responsible by the Ministry of Information and Communications, the Government Crypto Commission, the Ministry of Education and Training, and the Ministry of Science and Technology.
Industry associations also support the national strategy
In addition to ministries and branches, the VBA (Vietnam Blockchain Association) will work with professional associations and unions to promote "the development of a Vietnamese blockchain platform, the establishment of mechanisms for operation, utilization, interaction and interconnection between blockchain networks operating on the infrastructure", and "bringing together Vietnamese digital technology companies to build a blockchain platform, promote information sharing and strengthen competitiveness with foreign companies".
"The national blockchain strategy announced by the Prime Minister is a major milestone in the blockchain field, demonstrating the government's commitment and concrete actions, the determination of the drafting body, the Ministry of Information and Communications, and the community's efforts to promote a transparent, secure and sustainable digital economy," said Phan Duc Trung, executive vice president of the VBA, in a statement.
Going forward, Vietnam will also focus on attracting overseas digital companies through blockchain development and other means.
