Skyland Ventures, a domestic VC, announced on the 14th that it has raised a total of 5 billion yen for its new fund, "Skyland Ventures 4th Fund (hereinafter referred to as SV4 Fund)," which will invest mainly in the Web 3.0 field. It was also announced that SBI Group has joined as a new investor.
Taiko, KEKKAI, Desoul, and Wallchain have been added as new investment destinations for the SV4 Fund from 2023 onwards.
The SV4 Fund, which was formed in April last year, has invested in domestic and overseas Web 3.0 startups as a seed VC in the Internet field in general.
In addition to the existing Internet and digital fields (Web 2.0), Skyland Ventures will invest in startups with Web 3.0 as its central theme.
It will invest in fields related to the development of the digital economy, such as generative AI and the metaverse, regardless of whether they are Web 2.0 or Web 3.0.
Skyland Ventures is a VC fund that mainly invests in seed startups. To date, it has invested in about 150 companies, mainly domestic startups.
It also participated in the BNB Chain European Innovation Incubator as the first partner company of a Japanese VC, and has connected with domestic and international communities in the Web 3.0 field by investing in participating startups.
The main investments of the SV4 Fund include Nanameue (social services), Murasaki (operates the game studio Cyberstella), KEKKAI (security services), Wallchain (MEV solutions), and CoolConnect (operates NFT collections and Cool Girl NFT).
In the Web 2.0 field, it has also invested in Ageless (a human resources matching service for senior engineers) and LUCO (operates the live streaming design tool "Sclabo").
Yoshihiko Kinoshita, CEO and partner of Skyland Ventures, said in the announcement, "The social implementation of Web3 in Japan and globally will take time, but we want to work toward realizing a world where token-based companies become the standard, starting from corporations. We will continue to invest in Japanese-founded companies from scratch, support them in selecting fields and launching products, and work with overseas companies to help them expand into the Japanese market."
