The aim of providing an investment experience with "MONEY TRADE FIGHT by Matsui Securities"

What do you think about the current Web 3.0 field, especially the metaverse?

Asuka Shinoda (hereinafter, Shinoda): We believe that the metaverse's immersive nature makes it an effective platform for simulating an investment experience. Of course, it is different in many ways from actual investment, but we think that by playing a game that incorporates some of its mechanisms in the metaverse space, it will be possible to make investment feel more familiar.

The platform we used this time, Fortnite, is a system in which you choose your favorite game from a large number of games and play it, so the hurdle to playing is low, and it is a tool that makes it easy for people to experience investing while having fun in the world of the game.

In the first place, investment is often seen as "difficult to understand" or "a little scary," but by playing games in the metaverse space, you can experience investing intuitively, so I think it is quite compatible as a learning approach.

With Fortnite being selected as an event in the "Olympic Esports Series 2023," we are considering utilizing the metaverse in various ways, which is expected to continue to develop further in the future. In addition, after the game was released, we received a lot of feedback on social media, and we feel the potential of the metaverse.

Creating first contact with investment

What kind of appeal do you want to deliver and what problems do you want to solve through this project and service?

Shinoda: Our company's slogan is "make investing serious and fun," and we aim to provide products and services full of ideas that lower the barrier to starting investing and make investing fun.

According to a survey by the Japan Securities Dealers Association, the percentage of people in their 20s and 30s who trade online is low, but as one idea to get young people interested in investing, we have been sponsoring the e-sports tournament "VALORANT Challengers Japan," which is popular among people in their 20s and 30s, for the past three years. Through this sponsorship, we were able to realize the affinity between games and investment, which was also the trigger for us to start considering creating content using "Fortnite." By conveying the essential appeal of investing, which is that you can increase your assets by collecting information and buying and selling, I hope that you will become interested in actual investing.

I also hope that people will remember Matsui Securities with fond memories, as their first contact with investing as "a fun game provided by Matsui Securities." With this initiative, I hope that such people will take a step forward in investing.
