What do you think about the current Web 3.0 field?
Daisuke Miyashita (hereinafter, Miyashita): The current Web 3.0 field, especially NFTs, have been attracting attention as an innovative technology that guarantees the uniqueness and authenticity of digital data. I believe that in the future, these will demonstrate their true value not only in digital art and games, which are already becoming popular, but also in the "distribution of consumer goods" such as the rights to use real-world goods and services.
In the first place, the distribution of consumer goods can be divided into "logistics" and "commerce," and as many people realize, the cost of the former is getting smaller every year. As a common digital distribution standard, NFTs have the potential to dramatically reduce the costs associated with the latter commerce. Following the example of the container invented by Malcolm MacLean in the mid-1950s and which completely changed the face of global logistics, I call NFTs "containers of rights." In that sense, RFT (Redeemable Futures Token), invented by Tichemy and patented in October 2023, is a token standard that deserves attention in this context. RFT is based on NFT and digitizes rights to consumer goods such as rights to use real goods and services, making them more efficient to trade.
While it can be freely circulated like NFT, its feature of being converted into SBT (Soulbound Token) at the same time as receiving goods or using services (redemption) prevents the double consumption problem that occurs when linking consumer goods to tokens. In addition, after consumption, it remains in the wallet as proof of consumption. Overall, Web 3.0, NFT, and RFT have the potential to form a new stage in the intersection of the Internet and the real world, bringing about major changes in life and business.
