SARAH aims to create new value in food through Web 3.0
What do you think about the current state of the Web 3.0 field?
Yuya Sakai (hereinafter, Sakai): I think the biggest attraction of Web 3.0 is its interoperability. By utilizing blockchain technology, it becomes very easy to share data between services, making business development more convenient and efficient. By utilizing the token ecosystem here, we believe it is possible to build incentives for users and ecosystem participants as services grow, and speed up business growth.
I also think that the Web 3.0 industry is about to enter a period of growth. Once the infrastructure area is in place, the complex UX unique to Web 3.0, such as wallets and gas fees, is being resolved. From now on, I think the key to mass adoption of Web 3.0 will be how many convenient, fun, and life-enhancing applications are created.
On the other hand, one issue I feel is that there is still a shortage of human resources. Not only engineers, but also PdMs who can design products that utilize the characteristics of blockchain and BizDevs who can design businesses are in short supply. I think this is due to the fact that understanding of Web 3.0 is still not advanced. Experience in developing Web 2.0 services is often useful in the Web 3.0 field, and we hope that many talents will flow in.
ONIGIRI Chain accelerates value creation through food data
What kind of appeal do you want to deliver through your company's projects and services, and what do you want to accomplish?
Sakai: Our mission is increasing of "Delicious!" and we aim to enrich people's lives through food.
The to C service "SARAH" is a gourmet app that boasts more than 2 million users per month, and collects restaurant reviews on a menu-by-menu basis. By posting, points can be accumulated and a system is provided that allows you to purchase "NOREN NFT" from restaurants. NOREN NFT serves as proof of being a regular customer, deepening the relationship between consumers and restaurants. We will be providing these functions using Web 3.0 technology from 2023. Most users do not know about Web 3.0, but we are using it for many people because it provides a UX that is no different from Web 2.0 by being wallet-less and gas-less.
We also monetize by providing food manufacturers with a service that can analyze SARAH data. By analyzing SARAH data, we can understand food trends and consumer needs, and use them for product development and marketing.
Food data can also be used in many fields such as healthcare and finance. By utilizing blockchain, many businesses can work together to collect and store data permanently. We will build our own "ONIGIRI Chain" that protects user privacy and accelerates the provision of value through food data.

CEO of SARAH Inc.
Graduated from Hosei University's Faculty of Career Design in 2015. Joined SARAH as a co-founder while still a student. Became COO in 2021. After that, he was involved in corporate planning such as M&A, business plan formulation, and finance, and was appointed CSO (Chief Strategy Officer) in 2022. He is currently working on launching a new business using blockchain, and will become Representative Director and CEO in 2024.
