Tokyo is working on various Web 3.0 projects, mainly in its 23 wards. Shinjuku Ward, which is home to Kabukicho, the busiest shopping district in the Orient, will host the "MinTaNFT in Public Bath Sauna" event in 2022. This is a part of a regional revitalization project using NFTs, and is a collaboration with five public baths in Shinjuku Ward that have saunas. If you relax at each public bath, you can receive one NFT. Some areas often hold stamp rallies as a way to revitalize their town, but this project is a groundbreaking project that can be called an "NFT" rally rather than a stamp rally, and was held from April to June 2022. If you go to a designated public bath during the period, you can get an NFT for free, and if you complete the NFT rally, the first five people will receive a sauna hat. In addition, if you have at least one NFT, you can also participate in sauna events that will be held in the community in the future. Participants have given positive feedback, such as being able to find hidden saunas that they would not have been able to find on their own. In addition, in Shinjuku Ward, Rokubunnoni Co., Ltd., which operates the comprehensive blockchain/cryptocurrency media "CRYPTO TIMES," will open a Web 3.0 event space "Crypto Lounge GOX" in Higashi-Shinjuku in 2022. According to a press release, the purpose is to use it as a place where cryptocurrency enthusiasts can easily gather offline and learn and exchange information.
In Setagaya Ward, Aotoki Co., Ltd., a design office with an office in Shimokitazawa, has launched a design x Web 3.0 project called "aotoki lab." entitled "Future Shimokitazawa Town Development Project" to liven up Shimokitazawa, and as part of this effort, has started selling its first collection NFT "neo sloth." According to the press release, while cherishing the community triggered by NFT, they hope to create an ideal Shimokitazawa town by creating excitement for the entire town through local exchanges. The NFT "neo sloth" sold has 8 types of base and 1,500 patterns of design, and is distributed by free mint on the official website. Aotoki plans to use this NFT to create various events and benefits in the town of Shimokitazawa. As an example, they are planning to "receive services at restaurants in Shimokitazawa," "be treated preferentially at theaters in Shimokitazawa," and "a point card-like return system," and are currently making adjustments, and hope to create and expand the related population.
In 2022, when Edogawa Ward was in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, ForIt Co., Ltd. and Media Equity Co., Ltd., which operates the NFT marketplace "HEXA," launched the "Restaurant Sponsor NFT" restaurant support project, which issues sponsorship slots for restaurant menus as NFTs to support restaurants whose sales have declined due to the COVID-19 pandemic. They have issued a sponsor NFT for the oil soba restaurant "Ota Naka" in Koiwa, Edogawa Ward. Each time it is resold, up to 10% of the resale amount will be returned to "Ota Naka." In 2023, Shinagawa Ward will hold the "SHINAGAWA Innovation Forum 2023" with the theme "The evolving world of Web 3.0 and the metaverse - new business possibilities opened up by the metaverse and the latest business use cases," and will provide lectures, product and service introductions by participating companies, and experience sessions of participating companies' products and services. A similar Web 3.0-related event will be held in Taito Ward in 2022 in Asakusa, where NFT purchase experience events will be held. According to the press, this event is related to the NFT community "LAMM Project" organized by Lamm Co., Ltd., and aims to allow people to experience Web 3.0 culture in Asakusa, where traditional Japanese culture is deeply rooted. It will include workshops where people can purchase NFTs from scratch even if they do not own crypto assets, experiences such as purchasing original craft beer with the unique token "Lamm coin," and an exhibition of NFT works.
In this way, various Web 3.0 projects are being developed in Tokyo, and events that are a little different from regional revitalization are regularly held.
