Currently, NFTs, or so-called Profile Pictures (PFPs), used as icons on social networking sites, etc., are gaining ground. Popular PFPs are traded at high prices and have value as an asset. The utility of PFPs is also attracting attention, such as the ability to participate in exclusive events by owning a particular PFP.
Various unique PFP projects are currently being launched in Japan.
One such project is “VeryLongAnimals,” or “Verilon,” which features dot-picture animals with long faces. The adorable appearance of the animals has attracted a lot of support, and the price per NFT is increasing with each passing day. We spoke with Akim, the founder of Verilong, about industry trends and Verilong's future development.
NFT “Verilon” Gaining Popularity
Creating a Lifework Population This Year
Akim: This year, I think Web 3.0 as a whole will see fewer people with a speculative eye. I think this will lead to the emergence of attractive products whose primary purpose is not to make money. I think that NFTs with strong utility such as real estate and tickets will gradually grow, but in reality, it will still take some time for them to penetrate the market, since traditional QR codes and the like are still more convenient.
In that regard, I think the game will be a point of focus. Even so, it may take some time before something that says, “This game is interesting because it is NFT” appears.
In the NFT field, there are creators who have succeeded in monetizing NFT by publishing it, even if they only have less than 1,000 followers. I am looking forward to seeing more and more small teams like these creating new NFTs and successfully monetizing them.
This year, Verilon will expand into areas beyond NFTs. For example, we would like to expand into areas that have not been explored much in the past, such as TikTok.
What I would also like to emphasize is to expand overseas. I want to increase the number of people who make it their life's work by participating in the Verrillon economic sphere. I believe that there will be people who will be able to eat and live by participating. I hope to become a place for such people.
I believe that Verilon is reasonably well known in the domestic NFT industry, so we will aim to gain recognition from people outside the NFT field. This year, we may also promote collaboration outside the Web 3.0 domain, so we hope that you will pay attention to us.
