Attractive "content creation" is a prerequisite!!
NFTs will follow suit
There are only two options to attract new entrants to the NFT field: "significantly lower the barrier to entry" and "create attractive content that stimulates purchasing desire."
As times change, the type of entertainment that users want is also changing. In particular, content that utilizes digital technology is becoming more and more important.
Recently, there has been an increase in efforts using NFTs, and there are also cases of general companies entering the market. However, there must be many businesses that are unable to make a business due to a lack of know-how, or do not know how to turn it into content in the first place.
At microverse, which creates entertainment mainly in the Web 3.0 field, Keita Shibuya has been working on utilizing NFTs and supporting companies to launch new businesses. What does Web 3.0, NFTs, and the form of entertainment look like for up-and-coming young entrepreneurs?
Shibuya: In the field of NFTs where we are expanding our business, we have been talking about creating IP and content from NFT projects for the entertainment industry. Until now, it was enough to provide something aimed at the crypto crowd. However, in 2023, we will develop into a phase where people who have never touched NFTs will recognize and enjoy them.
In order to attract new entrants to the NFT field, there are two challenges: significantly lowering the barrier to entry or creating very interesting content.
To lower the barrier to entry, the issues of wallets and gas fees need to be resolved.
First of all, the hurdle for users is high for them to manage their private keys, so if a company with a license for cryptocurrency exchange provides a service that holds users' private keys, this can be resolved in an advantageous manner.
As for gas fees, it is not possible for users to pay 100 yen or 200 yen to play a game once. Users will not play if this is the case. Recently, Oasys, a game-specialized blockchain, has been attracting attention, and I think that some specialized blockchains will continue to emerge.
Until now, NFTs have mostly been used in the fields of art, games, and entertainment. However, I think that something amazing will happen in the ``○○'' part of ``NFT x ○○'' in the next three years.
Our main business is entertainment, but there is a growing trend for existing companies that have been waiting to see what would happen in HR, advertising, real estate, and other fields to study Web 3.0 and NFTs.
The key point for companies and projects starting NFTs now is to first create a plan that ignores NFTs for the time being. Plans that are too conscious of NFTs or that lean too much towards them tend to be interesting for people who know about NFTs, but do not resonate with the masses.
They should focus on creating purely interesting anime or idols that are purely cute and make everyone go crazy, and then players like us can get involved and advise them on how to use NFTs to build long-term relationships with fans.
In 2023, we will focus on getting more people involved. We are looking to increase collaborations and partnerships with existing companies that are not yet involved in the NFT space.
Near-future outlook for the NFT sector
There is a high possibility that within the next three years, we will see some amazing things happening using NFTs in fields such as entertainment, HR, advertising, and real estate.
