Community and management work together to develop the market
A year of major changes that will bring excitement to life
As user literacy and learning progress, it is predicted that blockchain games using FT will become popular in the future.
As the importance of game guilds increases with the spread of blockchain games, Yield Guild Games (YGG) is one of the world's largest and has become an important presence. In March of last year, ``YGG Japan'' was established as its Japanese subsidiary.
YGG Japan is operated by ForN Co., Ltd., which handles community formation for blockchain games. Representative Tetsuya Fujiwara, who has been engaged in marketing work, brings a touch of the world to Japan.
Points to note surrounding NFT games
The focus will be on efforts to lower barriers to entry for users and creating an environment that gives back to creators.
Fujiwara: Looking ahead to the Web 3.0 field, I think this year will be the year of games. As blockchain becomes more widespread, we believe that the entertainment of games will become a major bridge between Web 2.0 and Web 3.0. Regarding the popularity of blockchain games, I think games that use FT (Fungible Tokens) will continue to be popular overseas. Because it's becoming more generalized about crypto, and it's very integrated. On the other hand, in Japan, there are few users who have experience investing in or owning crypto assets, and the image of crypto assets is still not very good. Therefore, I think that games that utilize NFT will become popular in Japan first. As a result of user literacy and learning progressing, blockchain games using FT will become popular.
I believe that in 2023, several interesting games will be released as entertainment. Creating interesting games essentially gives users a lot of energy to overcome barriers to entry.
Also, I think we will see an increase in the number of game development companies entering the market this year. The issue in this case is regulatory.
Progress has been made in making the end-of-period market value tax-exempt when issuing governance tokens domestically, but if we introduce gacha, such as existing mobile games, there are concerns that the gambling nature of the game will be compromised. Issues such as whether the display method is appropriate need to be resolved.
Japan has over 50 million game users and is the third largest country in the world in terms of sales. We are No. 1 in the world in terms of average billing amount per person. This makes Japan the least allergic country in the world to spending money on games.
Blockchain games have the potential to change the way games exist.
In the future, communities will be more important than the centralized model of the past. A major change will occur where the community and management will work together to make projects and games more exciting through mutual cooperation.
YGG Japan will release several products this year in order to create a world where gamers can easily play blockchain games. We will provide wallets that are considered barriers to entry, information organization, and a place where attractive games can be gathered.
This year, we will continue to partner with game publishers. In our most recent private round, we received investment from major companies such as Square Enix and Glee. In the future, we would like to partner with overseas publishers.
