Four of the latest books recommended by the editorial team
We live in an age where new technologies are born one after another and booms come and go. That is why we should read good books that impart timeless wisdom.
The topic of ChatGPT has drawn attention to auto-generated AI and chatbots. These are expected to accelerate the DX-isation of companies and play a role in the birth of new businesses. On the other hand, attention is also being paid to jobs that are threatened by AI.
Will these jobs continue to degenerate? Or will they be able to expand existing services and create new ones? A battle of wits between AI and humans has begun in the business arena.
1. a must-read book that predicts the future of the advertising business!
This is a sequel to the hit book ‘Advertising Business in the Next Decade’ published in 2014, written by Ryuji Yokoyama and Hirofumi Eieda, who are active at the forefront of the advertising industry. Based on the recent situation in the digital industry, such as the internet and social networking services, the book provides a realistic forecast of how the advertising business will change in the future.
It also provides in-depth analysis of key topics related to the current advertising business, such as marketing using data, effectiveness indicators for online advertising, platforms and D2C, and is recommended as an introduction to the advertising business.
The advertising business currently and in the future will continue to occupy a large share of the internet industry and will undoubtedly influence a wide range of businesses. This book is recommended not only for those involved in the advertising business, but also for all business people affected by digitalisation.

to all business people involved in the advertising and internet industries
2. to acquire a ‘consultancy mindset’ that can be used in any business
This book provides practical and concrete explanations of the 99 skills and five categories of techniques needed to succeed as a consultant. The author is Satoshi Takamatsu, a long-serving and still active consultant. While consulting work requires a high level of knowledge and skills, there is not enough education and guidance.
This book, therefore, draws on the author's experience to organise the skills that consultants should acquire and introduces the techniques to acquire them logically. A further interesting point of the book is that it compares all the issues in a confrontational format.
For example, ‘The aesthetics of “writing and cutting” vs. the aesthetics of “writing just right”’, ‘closed questions vs. open questions’, ‘one-size-fits-all vs. everything a little above average’, etc. The pros and cons of various techniques are summarised in a very clear manner.
Recommended: ▶︎
a must-read for young professionals who want to acquire consultative thinking and manners!
3. learn about the future brought about by AI technology through a science fiction story!
Co-authored by Kai-Fu Lee, former president of GoogleChina, and science fiction author Chen Chiu-Fang. The format of the book is that a former top GAFA artificial intelligence scientist explains cutting-edge technologies, while a science fiction writer turns the themes into stories. All of the themes covered in the book feel like they could be realised in 20 years' time.
‘AI insurance deeply learns about your personal life and even decides on a romantic partner’; ‘AI medicine develops in response to pandemics. Towards a contactless society', ’Fully automated driving and smart cities. What are the challenges in transition?’, ’Immersive VR is transforming entertainment. Tokyo becomes a metaverse sanctuary’, and other concrete predictions of changes that will occur in our daily lives.
Because it takes the form of a science fiction story, even those who want to learn about AI but do not want to read books with only difficult explanations can easily read through to the end.

a science fiction-style business education book that makes learning about the future brought about by AI fun.
This novel book contains the answers given by AI itself to various questions about AI, covering a wide range of topics such as its history, mechanisms, uses and future prospects, and what humans should do to prepare for it, all from its perspective, making it a satisfying introduction.
However, the AI answers described are sometimes unclear and contradictory. This is a point that should be criticised for a book, but in the sense that it shows the limits of what AI can answer, it can be said to fulfil the purpose of this book.
Furthermore, the text and illustrations in this book were drawn by AI, and it is revealed that the book was produced in five days; if you read this book, which embodies the productivity improvements made possible by AI, you will be surprised at how much can be produced in just five days if AI is used to its fullest extent.
