Approaching Appointment

According to a Reuters report, the US Senate Banking Committee decided on the 3rd to approve Paul Atkins as the new chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Atkins' nomination was passed by a majority of 12 to 11, despite opposition from Democratic senators. If approved by the Senate, Atkins will be officially appointed as the chairman of the SEC.

Atkins is a former commissioner with many years of experience at the SEC, having served from 2002 to 2008. Regarding the position of the SEC after former Chairman Gensler retires in January 2025, he advocates the creation of more proactive cryptocurrency regulations.
