U.S. House Committee Passes Bill to Oppose CBDC Surveillance, Following Trump's Executive Order

Moves to Block CBDC Issuance

On the 3rd, the US House of Representatives Financial Services Committee passed an amendment to the Anti-CBDC Surveillance State Act by a vote of 27 to 22.

The bill, which was reintroduced in March by Republican Rep. Tom Emmer (R-Minn.), aims to prevent "unelected bureaucrats" from issuing central bank digital currencies (CBDCs).

Rep. Emmer, a vocal critic of CBDCs, has consistently warned strongly that CBDCs could be misused as a tool for government financial surveillance.
