Bitcoin Developer Proposes Hard Fork to Counter Quantum Computers

Proposal for countermeasures against quantum computers

On the 4th, Agustin Cruz, a cryptocurrency developer, published a new proposal to protect assets from future quantum computer attacks.

The proposal, called the "Quantum Resistant Address Migration Protocol," would force the transfer of funds from old Bitcoin (BTC) addresses to new, safe addresses, and was announced on the official mailing list for Bitcoin developers. Implementing such a major change would require a procedure called a "hard fork," which updates the entire Bitcoin system.
