U.S. SEC Approves First Options Trading on Spot Ethereum ETFs

On April 9, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) approved options trading on spot Ethereum (ETH) exchange-traded funds (ETFs). Using its "accelerated approval" process, the SEC granted Nasdaq ISE permission to list options on the BlackRock iShares Ethereum Trust. Additionally, the SEC approved proposals from NYSE Americanto offer options trading on the Bitwise Ethereum ETF, Grayscale Ethereum Trust, and the Grayscale Ethereum Mini Trust.

These developments come roughly a year after the approval of eight spot Ethereum ETFs, which began trading last summer. The move is seen as another major milestone in integrating crypto into mainstream financial markets and expanding institutional access to Ethereum-based products.
