Coinbase Agrees to Acquire Deribit, Eyeing Potential Growth Towards a Trillion-Dollar Market Cap

Major cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase announced on the 8th that it has agreed to acquire Deribit, a leading cryptocurrency derivatives exchange.

The purchase price is approximately 2.9 billion dollars (around 423 billion JPY), and after obtaining approval from regulatory authorities and other procedures, the acquisition is expected to be completed by the end of 2025. Coinbase is expressing hope that this strategic acquisition will greatly grow its derivatives business.
