US SEC considers relaxing regulations to promote tokenization of securities

On the 8th, Commissioner Hester Peirce of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) announced that she is considering a regulatory exemption order that would allow companies to use blockchain to issue, trade, and settle securities. Speaking at the SEC's 31st International Securities Market Growth and Development Institute, Commissioner Peirce indicated that she would allow companies to use innovative trading systems for tokenized securities. The initiative is being considered by the SEC's Crypto Task Force following a call for public comments in February.
