Taiwanese Legislator Advocates for Bitcoin Reserves

On the 9th, Mr. Ko Ju-chun, a legislator of the Taiwanese Parliament, proposed the establishment of Bitcoin (BTC), a crypto asset, as a reserve fund in the country's parliament.

Firstly, Mr. Ko pointed out that Taiwan currently holds 423 tons of gold reserves and up to $577 billion (approximately 84 trillion yen) in foreign exchange reserves, more than 90% of which is invested in U.S. Treasury bonds.

He expressed concern that in the event of more severe market fluctuations or regional conflicts in the future, the safety and liquidity of these assets could be affected. He advocated for the addition of new financial assets to mitigate this risk.
