New SEC Chairman Atkins vows to reform cryptocurrency regulations

"A new era for the SEC has begun."

On the 12th, Paul Atkins, the new chairman of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), said, "A new era has begun for the SEC." He spoke at the SEC's fourth cryptocurrency roundtable.

He criticized the SEC's policies under the old system and shared his specific plans for improving cryptocurrency regulations.

Atkins criticized the enforcement actions taken by former SEC Chairman Gensler under the Biden administration as "ad hoc." The SEC continues to say that it will use its authority to set standards that are practical for market participants and meet realistic objectives.
