Strengthening Cryptocurrency Regulations

The Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), equivalent to the central bank, announced new guidance on May 30 regarding business licenses for cryptocurrency service companies.

This guidance particularly highlights measures against cryptocurrency firms that provide services outside of Singapore. MAS explained that there would be no transition period of more than a month following the announcement. From July 1, firms without a business license are required to cease offering services abroad, and violations of this rule will result in penalties.
