Moscow Exchange Launches Bitcoin Futures Trading

Futures Linked to BTC Spot ETF

On the 4th, Russia's largest stock exchange, the Moscow Stock Exchange (MOEX), began trading futures products for qualified investors, linked to the value of the cryptocurrency Bitcoin (BTC). The settlements are conducted in cash, and these futures are designed to track the performance of the spot Bitcoin ETF 'IBIT', issued by the major asset management firm BlackRock in the United States. The initial series of futures contracts are traded in US dollars and settled in Russian rubles, with maturity due in September 2025. Instead of directly trading the shares of IBIT itself, these are structured as derivative transactions.
