Connecticut Passes the 'Anti-Strategic Bitcoin Reserve Act' Unanimously

Going Against the National Trend

The Connecticut legislature has unanimously passed House Bill 7082 (HB7082) in both chambers, completely prohibiting state government investments in cryptocurrencies. The law is set to be enforced starting October 1, 2025, and bans the acceptance, possession, and investment in cryptocurrencies by the state and its political subdivisions.

This 'Act Concerning Various Amendments to the Laws Regarding Money Transfers, State Payments and Investments in Cryptocurrencies, and Accounts for Minors on Remittance Apps' specifically prohibits the establishment of 'cryptocurrency reserves' and imposes new requirements on remittance service providers.
