Texas Follows New Hampshire in Enacting Bitcoin Reserve Fund Legislation

Governor Signs Bitcoin Reserve Fund Bill

On the 21st, Governor Greg Abbott of Texas signed the bill SB21, establishing a strategic Bitcoin (BTC) reserve fund. This follows New Hampshire, allowing investments in Bitcoin. Unlike New Hampshire, which permitted investments using public funds, Texas specifies the establishment and protection of an independent reserve fund. The newly signed SB21 allows the state to invest in cryptocurrencies with a market capitalization exceeding $500 billion (approximately 73 trillion yen), currently only Bitcoin meets this criterion.
