Tether Acquires Stake in Canadian Gold Firm, Expanding Commodity-Backed Digital Assets

Holds 34% of Elemental Shares

Tether, the leading stablecoin issuer, announced the acquisition of 31.9% (approximately $89.2 million) of the shares in Canadian gold royalty company Elemental Altus Royalties. Combined with existing holdings, Tether now owns 33.7% and could expand its stake to 47.7% by October 2025. The acquisition aims to strengthen Tether's physical asset-linked digital assets, such as Tether Gold (XAUT). A gold royalty company provides funding to gold and other precious metals (such as silver and platinum) mining projects in exchange for a percentage of the mine's production or revenue.
