Post-IPO Surge Takes a Breather

The stock price of major stablecoin issuer Circle (CRCL) dropped over 15% on the 24th, a day after hitting a historic high of $298, entering a correction phase with a 25% drop to close at $223.

The decline in stock price is attributed to a critical report released the same day by the Bank for International Settlements (BIS). Known as the 'central bank of central banks', the BIS argued that stablecoins are 'not money' and concluded that they cannot become the mainstay of future financial systems.
