Coinbase to Launch the First Perpetual Futures in the U.S. with Bitcoin and Ethereum

On the 26th, leading U.S. cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase announced the launch of 'U.S. Perpetual Futures' starting July 21 in the U.S. market. The offering will begin with two contracts: nano Bitcoin (0.01 BTC) and nano Ethereum (0.10 ETH). These new products are designed as long-term contracts with a 5-year maturity, allowing for trading 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. A funding rate mechanism is employed to align futures prices more closely with spot prices, ensuring full compliance with CFTC regulations. While perpetual futures account for over 90% of cryptocurrency derivative transactions in international markets, regulatory constraints have previously prevented their use in the U.S.
