Slowing ETF Purchases May Cast a Shadow on Bitcoin's Price Rise, ETH Holdings Reach Record Highs - Cryptoquant Analysis

On-Chain Trends in Bitcoin

According to a weekly analysis released by Cryptoquant on December 3, the pace of purchases for U.S. Bitcoin ETFs and MSTR (Strategy) has significantly slowed down. The 30-day purchase volume of ETFs dropped from 86,000 BTC on December 7, 2024, to 40,000 BTC currently, a 53% decrease, and MSTR also saw a reduction from 171,000 BTC to 16,000 BTC in the same period, marking a 90% decrease. Cryptoquant notes that institutional purchases are only a part of the overall demand in the cryptocurrency market, and the reduction in overall demand is hindering price increases. Even at the peak of demand growth on December 7, 2024, the demand growth for ETFs and MSTR accounted for only 33% of the total.
