Sweden Intensifies Seizure of Cryptocurrencies from Illegal Profits

This week, Sweden's Justice Minister Gunnar Strömmer instructed police, tax authorities, and enforcement agencies to intensify the seizure of criminal proceeds, including cryptocurrencies. He announced plans to significantly expand the recovery of illegal profits by fully utilizing the confiscation law introduced last November, as reported by Decrypt. The new law grants enforcement agencies the authority to seize assets 'regardless of whether the actual crime is proven.' In cases where the illegal acquisition of cryptocurrencies is suspected, authorities can seize the assets unless the owner can explain their origin.
