AI Firm CoreWeave to Acquire Bitcoin Mining Giant Core Scientific for Approximately $9 Billion

CoreWeave, a cloud provider specialized in artificial intelligence (AI), announced on the 7th that it has signed a deal to acquire cryptocurrency mining company Core Scientific in an all-stock transaction valued at approximately $9 billion (about 1.3 trillion yen). With this acquisition, CoreWeave will own approximately 1.3 gigawatts (GW) of power capacity across Core Scientific's data center locations in the United States. Furthermore, there is potential to expand this capacity by more than 1GW. CoreWeave's CEO, Michael Intrator, stated that the acquisition will significantly enhance the company's capabilities in AI and high-performance computing (HPC).
