U.S. House Passes Deliberation Procedures for Cryptocurrency Bills

On the 17th, the U.S. House approved the deliberation procedures for cryptocurrency-related bills with a vote of 215 to 211. The approval came after a meeting the previous day between President Trump and conservative lawmakers, where they agreed to add a provision banning Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDCs), which garnered conservative support. The bills passed include the 'GENIUS Act' for stablecoin regulation, the 'CLARITY Act' to clarify the digital asset market, and a bill prohibiting the issuance of CBDCs. Just the day before, these had been rejected with a vote of 196 to 223 due to opposition from 13 conservative Republicans. According to Politico, House Speaker Mike Johnson is continuing discussions with members of the Financial Services and Agriculture Committees, as well as conservative lawmakers.
