Chinese Authorities Caution Against Cryptocurrency-Related Iris Recognition

Ringing the Alarm on Biometric Authentication

On the 6th, China's Ministry of State Security published an article calling for caution regarding biometric authentication like that used by the cryptocurrency Worldcoin (WLD).

The content warns against the misuse of biometric data by foreign companies, and while it does not directly name Worldcoin, it appears to refer to it.

The Ministry of State Security stated that iris features are difficult to replicate and possess unique characteristics for each individual.

These features are used in critical security areas and are often targeted by criminals, with potential for collection and theft under various pretexts.
